Efficient cathode for the hydrogen evolution reaction in alkaline membrane water electrolysis based on NiCoP embedded in carbon fibres

Porous carbon nano/microfibres (PCFs) modified by NiCoP nanoparticles (NiCoP/CF) were tested as gas diffusion cathodes in a zero-gap alkaline water electrolyser. Two types of precursors used for the preparation fibres needle-less spinning: polyacrylonitrile (PAN) and combination PAN polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP). The influence selected on morphology, porosity, surface area was examined. Both samples NiCoP/CF_PAN NiCoP/CF_PAN-PVP characterised means (i) structural phase composition, (ii) catalytic activity hydrogen evolution reaction (HER), (iii) performance stability under membrane electrolysis (MAWE) conditions. more porous, yet stable outperformed cathode.
